Doesn’t time fly when you are busy/relaxed/retired/on a narrowboat!!!!!

We did make it to Newbury on Wednesday 16th April – and we are still here. However we have achieved a number of things. Visited GP and got medications. Started to understand the positives and negatives of the NHS system!!! Awaiting a specialist referral for Bob. Got our couch covers made. Bought cushions and throw rugs for couch. Met some brilliant new people. Sorted out storage in the engine bay. Getting together a bit of a toolkit. Bought a stool for Bob to use whilst steering the boat. Purchased our flights to Venice. Bob had a birthday. Bob officially retired. Bron practiced her Tetris storing all the items on the boat. We shopped at the markets and ate really well. Bob found a great deal on beer at Tescos.

We also moved from West Mills above the Newbury Lock down near the Marina so that we would have closer access to some stores we need as well as to fill up with diesel, water etc.

So very little distance covered but got to know this lovely place and the idiosyncrasies of Celtic Maid much better. And we have the inside nearly how we want it! We have discovered a type of washing machine that should also work so now investigating how to get one. And Bob is poised to clean and polish the exterior as soon as we have something resembling a dry day. It hasn’t been particularly cold here but over the last couple of weeks we have certainly had more wet days than dry. Bron’s new wellies (complete with chickens!!) have had a workout and now she walks through all the puddles like a 3 year old!!

    • We got a twintub similar to the one you suggested – it uses very little power and we have a small space just the right size to store it. Thanks
