Not a lot of travelling in Celtic Maid this week as can be seen from the map
About 2 miles and 3 locks down the canal!!!!
We stayed in Croxley until Sunday 24th, having spent Thursday till Saturday in Edgware keeping medical appointments, celebrating Bron’s birthday and welcoming friends, Mick and Kendra from Port Townsend, Washington State USA. They will be joining us today until Friday to experience the delights that are living on Celtic Maid!!! Bunion is as excited as us and it is taking all our efforts to get him to behave!!!!!
Staying in Croxley gave us simple access to the Underground train which had us to Bob’s eye appointment very promptly – far better than a 3 hour bus trip!!!! Bob’s eye had gone downhill a bit with increased pressure as a result of the medication being reduced too quickly, so we will have to hang around and be back there in 2 weeks. He is staying positive but all these medications are playing havoc with his liver – a work in progress!!
Dinner for Bron’s birthday was shared at a restaurant with friends Chris and Sue and we had the additional surprise of meeting up with their friends Diana and Geoff – who we had met last December at a quiz night. A great night and robust discussion was had by all!!
To our delight and their exhaustion, Mick and Kendra arrived on Friday afternoon and we tried out a new Indian restaurant for dinner – the food and service was brilliant and we were even treated to a bit of live Bollywood music – until we had enough and walked back home.
Back to the boat on Saturday and a bit of a clean up and rest before moving Celtic Maid to our current location on Sunday and then spending all of Monday cleaning and shopping. It rained for the entire day with only short respite as we made our way back with the groceries. Found a couple of small leaks that will need attention and reinforced for us how important it will be to get stern and bow covers made. Given that Bron’s car in Australia has now been sold (thank you Thaao for all your hard work in succeeding with this) we now have some funds to make this a reality.I guess we have had an amazing summer and the wetter weather had to arrive sometime!!
So today I catch up on this, bid you all a very fond adieu and welcome our next guests aboard!!! Only 2 new photos this time!!!!
Jim and I are quite happy to look after Bunion for you while your friends are on board if he is being troublesome! No bother at all as we’d hardly know he was on board I’m sure :0) X
Thanks to you both but he has been so good we are giving him an extra run in the park today!!! Kendra has fallen in love with him and is distraught to leave him today!!!! xx
