After almost 3 months in Canada and the USA with family and friends we have finally returned to England and taken up residence on Celtic Maid. The story and pictures of our brilliant holiday can be found at www.getjealous.com/narrowboataussies
We have spent the last week, since arriving in England on Friday 7th March, purchasing household items, cleaning, storing our possessions, getting provisions, having an engine service, seeking advice and generally becoming confident and comfortable in our new surroundings.
Everyone here at Devizes Marina have been outstanding in their professional and caring service every step of the way. It will be sad to leave them all!!! We feel like we are leaving the safety of our parents’ home to venture out into the world!
We will be heading westward along the Kennet Avon canal toward Bath on the first leg and tackling the 26 lock Caen Hill Flight as a baptism of fire. By then we should have some idea of how to operate these locks. Not sure that Bob’s 20 years experience on locks in South Australia is going to assist us much with these.
Whenever possible we will update this blog on our trials, tribulations and successes.
